Church Classroom Redo!

I am SO excited about this transformation!  I think this is a great example of what a little paint and a WHOLE lot of talent can do!  Our class decided we needed an update from the sterile concrete walls that normally surround us on Sunday mornings.  So, we picked out some paint, knocked out a wall to make a little coffee nook and hired Alfonso Garcia to paint a few murals!  On top of that we have prayed our hearts out for a comfy place to invite others.  What do you think?!  Can't wait to post the finished product!

The sterile white walls!!

Finished mural in main classroom!
The coffee nook!  More pics to come - we are ready to add a coffee bar, cabinets, and of course COFFEE!

Easy Holiday Decor

I'm a little obsessed with holiday décor.  Christmas is my favorite, but Easter is a close second!  Here is an idea that I have enjoyed for several years now because it is easy and looks fantastic every season!  I use this vase that I purchased from Pier One many years ago - but you can use anything similar.  I find a filler (Christmas was ornaments, Easter is colored eggs, Fall is pumpkins!) and voile - instant holiday fun without being too fussy or over the top!
Last month,  I took my first trip to New Orleans.  I loved the food but more than anything I was very inspired by the French Quarter! The history and the vintage feel of the downtown shops were amazing.  I found this wall of plates in a boutique and am determined to give it a try!  I couldn't resist asking the store manager how they made this happen!  Basically she used plate hangers and made sure the plates were overlapping each other.  What a FUN idea!  I think this is definitely something I can use in my own home.  I will post my own version soon!!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog - Shawnte's Chateau!  I am so excited to begin documenting my remodeling, painting, and decorating projects!  Currently, I am working on my own home remodel, painting projects for my son's new apartment, as well as a room update for a local church.  I have taken several interior design  courses during college, but truly my best training has been the hand's on kind!!  My favorite type of adventure is making small spaces feel warm and inviting.  I hope you will find ideas that inspire you to try something new and make your own life happy!  Thanks for stopping by!
